Judge William Millstone was a recurring character on How to Get Away with Murder. He is the father of Middleton Law student, Asher Millstone. He is portrayed by John Posey.
Biography[]
William married Lydia and together they had two children, Chloe and Asher. William was never close nor affectionate with either of his children. When Asher was in college, he threw a party at Trotter Lake. During this party, a drunk Tiffany Howard went upstairs with 4 boys who would gangrape her. Asher found out soon after and went to his dad for help. Asher believed for years that it was William who supported him through that situation but he found out after his dad died that it was actually his mother, Lydia, who fixed it for him.
Early Life[]
Season 1[]
In 1993, David Allen was tried for the murder of his girlfriend, Trisha Stanley. William, who was the judge on the case, recieved word from A.D.A Vince Travers that there was perjured testimony in the trial. He did nothing about it because senator Art Trucco promised to put in a good word for him in becoming a federal judge if he ensured that David was found guilty.
In 2014, Annalise submitted a petition to develop new facts of David Allen's conviction. This petition was granted by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. As a result of this appeal, the Keating 5, Annalise, Bonnie and Frank became aware of William's corruption.
Season 2[]
After the murder of Sam, Emily Sinclair began blackmailing Asher into being her unoffical informant into Annalise. She was threatening to make public the events at Trotter Lake and what happened to Tiffany Howard. When Asher tried to put his foot down, Sinclair just continued to threaten him until he caved. He asked his dad for help and Sinclair drew up immunity paperwork for both of them. The original plan was for Asher to testify in a closed hearing against Annalise in regards to her professional illegal misconduct, but he left when he was called to the stand because he was having trouble focusing as the night before Bonnie confessed to killing Sam. Asher returned to Sinclair's office later in the day, stating that he knew more than he originally said. He said he knew who killed Sam and William lectured him about knowingly withholding evidence in an ongoing murder investigation. Sinclair drew up new immunity paperwork offering full immunity for the Trotter Lake incident and any connection to the murder of Sam as long as his testimony lead to a conviction. Before Asher signed he spoke with William about the David Allen case and he said he did nothing wrong, causing Asher to realise Sinclair drew up immunity paperwork for him as well. Asher never signed the immunity deal as a result.
Sometime later, Annalise began working on Jill Hartford's defense after she killed her husband, Steven. Annalise met with Clay Irvin and A.D.A Hollis Feldman and told them to close the case, but Feldman brought up that Jill called Annalise for 1 minute 42 seconds before calling the police and speculated that Annalise coached her on how to fake the crime scene. He threatened to charge her with accessory after the fact. As a result, to prevent an investigation into her and to close Jill's case, she told Bonnie and Frank to gather everything they could on William Millstone. The next day Annalise met with Hollis Feldman and told him he would be dropping the charge against Jill on the grounds of self-defense. She also said he needed to ensure Emily Sinclair ended her 'witch-hunt' into her and her staff. She called it 'two birds, one Millstone'. She said he could use the file she gave him to charge William Millstone with multiple counts of corruption. Feldman took the deal and dropped the charges against Jill.
Soon after this, William's corruption made the news and he faced possible impeachment. He committed suicide as a result.
Season 6[]
Asher found out through the FBI that it was Annalise who was behind William's corruption becoming public knowledge. He decided to turn on her as a result and started informing on Michaela, Connor and Oliver.
