Wes' safe deposit box file is one of the items in How to Get Away with Murder. It remains unused, unseen, and unmentioned for most of the show.
History[]
Season 1[]
After Rebecca Sutter realises that Sam Keating is Mr. Darcy, she runs away. Wes Gibbins soon after realises the same thing, and blackmails Annalise Keating into getting Rebecca to return home by making a list of all her illegal acts and leaving it in a safe deposit box under his name in the bank. He said that unless Annalise figured out how to get Rebecca to trust her and return, he would forward the file to the police. Annalise successfully gets Rebecca to come home by framing Griffin, so this file isn't mentioned again until season 6.
Season 6[]
Frank Delfino finds a key in Laurel Castillo's bedroom when the police are conducting a search after she and Christopher were reported missing. He puts together what the key is for and attempts to access the safe deposit box but told his access isn't authorised, so he comes back pretending to be Wes. The deposit box is unlocked and it is revealed that the contents had already been emptied three days prior by Denise Pollock posing as Laurel. This file is never mentioned or shown again.
Trivia/continuity errors[]
- By Freakin' Whack-a-Mole, the illegal acts Annalise had committed are as follows
- Illegally obtaining evidence in the aspirin assassin case
- Illegally obtaining evidence in the murder of Marjorie St. Vincent case
- Knowingly withholding evidence in an ongoing murder investigation (Lila's phone)
- So in season 6, the idea that the safe deposit box file contains 'everything' that happened before Wes' death doesn't make sense because it's never stated in the show that Wes was regularly updating the file whenever something illegal happened.
