Season Summary
Overview
After Wes' death, Annalise (Viola Davis), Michaela (Aja Naomi King), Connor (Jack Falahee), Asher (Matt McGorry) and Laurel (Karla Souza) all struggle to move on with their lives, but when a new mystery involving one of their own unfolds throughout the season, relationships are fractured, secrets are exposed and yet another terrifying truth is revealed.

- Production began on May 8, 2017, when one of the writers of the show announced on Twitter that the writing staff was in full swing mapping and writing the fourth season.[18]
- Filming is scheduled to start on July 11, 2017 and wrap January 27, 2018.[19]
- Filming officially wrapped on February 10, 2018.[20]
- The writers started working on the season on May 8, 2017.[21]
- The table read for the first episode of the season was on July 14, 2017.[22]
- This season is the first to have its mid-season finale at its eighth episode rather than its ninth like all previous seasons.
- In "He's Dead", Alfred Enoch appears as Wes. He also returns for a second episode in "The Day Before He Died" which explains what happened the day before he died in the Fire at the Keating House.
- There is around a one or two month time jump when the series returned, and they started their second semester of their second year of law school.[23]
- A three-week break occurred between "Ask Him About Stella" and "Lahey v. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania" due to the 2018 Olympic Winter Games.
- As of the beginning of the season, there are only three executive producers: Betsy Beers, Shonda Rhimes and Peter Nowalk, following Bill D'Elia stepping down from executive producer at the end of Season 3.
