Rebecca Sutter is one of the main characters of How to Get Away with Murder. She plays her music so loud the walls vibrate... which isn't ideal for Wes, her next-door neighbor. A bartender at an off campus bar, Rebecca is no stranger to Middleton students... and their various vices. Her edgy, take-no-crap attitude scares most people away, but Wes recognizes that her pierced, intimidating exterior is just a cover for a much more haunted, vulnerable side - especially when she’s pulled into the mystery surrounding the murder of a popular campus coed.

Early Life

At some point when living in an apartment, she was neighbors with a law student. She was constantly annoyed by the noise of him having wild sex and his nervous breakdown. He eventually moved out, resulting in Wes Gibbins moving in. Rebecca was also friends with Lila Stangard, a girl who mysteriously disappeared. ("Pilot")

Season 1

Rebecca 101
Rebecca learns that her friend is dead. ("Pilot")

After being assigned to figure out an idea that could prove Gina Sadowski innocent, Wes Gibbins goes back to his apartment to think. He is interrupted, however, by the sound of music being blared in the next apartment over. He knocks on his neighbor's door and meets Rebecca. He asks her to turn down the music, but she refuses, slamming the door in his face. The following evening, Rebecca is seen watching the news as it talks about her friend, the missing Lila Stangard. As Wes returns to his apartment, he finds Rebecca arguing with a man, Griffin O'Reilly. As he storms out of Rebecca's apartment, Wes notices stuff knocked on the floor, and offers to help Rebecca pick things up. She refuses, once again slamming the door in his face. The following evening, Rebecca drops off a bottle of beer, stolen from the bar she works at, wanting to apologize for the way she's treated him the past two nights. Wes reads the note on the beer “Welcome to the neighborhood. -Rebecca.” He asks if she'd like to have a drink with him, but she says she can't that night. She apologizes before heading back into her apartment. The next evening, a body is discovered in the water tank of a sorority house. Griffin hurries over to Rebecca's apartment, pointing it out on the news; they both realize it to be Lila.

It's All My Fault

As Wes leaves, Annalise goes down to meet with Frank down in the basement. It is then revealed that Rebecca never escaped the house and was in fact murdered, with her body hidden underneath the staircase all along.

At first, Rebecca came off as cold to Wes but then later on apologised for her behaviour. Later, the two begin dating, but as the investigation into Lilas death goes on makes Wes became more suspicious and doubtful as to whether Rebecca had lied and in fact did murder Lila.

The two seemed to generally be on good terms, with Lila being open and comfortable enough to detail her real feelings regarding her boyfriend Griffin who Rebecca didn't approve of. Later, Lila tells Rebecca that she had met a 'Mr.Darcy'.

On the night of Lila's murder, Rebecca attempted to break Lila and Griffin by texted her to come over to witness the two making out.
