After marrying Soraya, the two had two children called Nico and Grace. However, as time progressed, the two grew apart. Once he stopped working in the finance industry, he started using money from his savings. One night, Raul brought up the divorce and Soraya got stupidly drunk and threw up in her children's bathroom. During the divorce, Raul filed for custody for his kids and hired a lawyer. He used the video footage of Soraya throwing up in the children's bathroom as leverage and got Soraya to agree to give him 6 million. After Soraya hired Annalise Keating along with Tegan Price, they found bank statements which showed that he was broke and used them to lower the amount to 1 million. The two settled.
