- "The toxicology report states the following "the blood-drug-screen test found no trace of secobarbital or any other potentially lethal medication in Mrs. Lahey's sample."
Commonwealth v. Lahey came as a result of Emily Sinclair filing a subpoena on March 25th 2015 to test Nia Lahey's blood because she suspected foul play in her death. Her argument was Nate killed Nia to be with Annalise and if there was nothing to hide there was no reason to object.
Case[]
Wes was taken off the suicide of Marco Tidwell case because Annalise thought he was struggling with thoughts of his mother. She tasked him with sitting at the back of the hearing to test Nia's blood but was caught by Eve. He denied being there for Annalise.
Sinclair began her cross of nurse Brenda, who testified that Nia often spoke about suicide. Sinclair asked if she provided Nate with the potentially lethal drug secobarbital, to which Brenda denied. Sinclair then had her read out the hospital's visitor log on the day Nia died. Nate arrived at the hospital an hour and a half before Nia's death, which was suspicious to Sinclair because that was how long it took a lethal dose of secobarbital to take effect. Eve decided not to cross Brenda, as a result the judge ruled that Nia's blood could be tested. Wes reported back to Annalise. Eve told Annalise there was a plan and she didn't need to worry.
Later, Nate went to the hospital to ask Brenda to alter the results of the blood test to turn up nothing instead of showing secobarbital in Nia's bloodstream. Back in court, the judge read out the test results which showed no trace of any lethal medication.
