Summary[]

Annalise's murder trial has arrived, but Tegan's history complicates her role as counsel. While Nate visits Jorge Castillo in prison with a proposition, news breaks about Xavier. Bonnie works to help Annalise use Hannah Keating's past as blackmail.[3]

  • Laurel Castillo returns to testify against Annalise. She explains that she fled the state out of fear of what her family might do to her or Christopher because they knew that Laurel might testify against them in the future. She has been in Brooklyn since her disappearance.
  • Annalise is accused of being responsible for the murders of Sam Keating, Rebecca Sutter, ADA Emily Sinclair, Caleb Hapstall and DA Ronald Miller while Annalise blames the Castillo family and Governor Lynne Birkhead.
  • Annalise tears Michaela apart on the stand using her deportation of Simon Drake and Connor over his own lies in the past, including his false claim of shutting down a gay conversion camp.
  • After speaking with Frank and Annalise, Laurel unexpectedly testifies on Annalise's behalf that Wes acted alone and was just mentally ill, creating doubt in the jury's minds in Annalise's favor.
  • Annalise uses Frank's paternity to blackmail Hannah into testifying against the governor. In return, Hannah demands an NDA with a hundred million dollar penalty and for Annalise to publicly claim she killed Sam. Due to feeling there is too much danger she will lose without Hannah's help, even after Laurel's testimony, she agrees.
  • Frank, after talking with Laurel about their former relationship, tells Bonnie that he is still loves Laurel but loves Bonnie more. Bonnie reveals the truth to Frank of his paternity.
  • Hannah is found dead of an apparent suicide but it may have been the governor or Frank after learning the truth about his parents.
  • Nate approaches Jorge Castillo to testify against the governor. Xavier's body is found and Nate claims that the governor did it to keep Xavier from testifying while Frank would've handed him over to the FBI.
  • Connor is revealed to have struck a deal for five years in prison for himself and immunity for Oliver while Laurel and Michaela both negotiated for probation for themselves.
