Season 3[edit | edit source]

"They couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. Finally, they tested my blood and realized I had been poisoned with antifreeze. [...] What kind of children try to kill their own mother?"
—Edith Duvall to the Reporter[src]

After putting her children through metaphorical hell, Edith resorts to poisoning herself to get her point across to them. She then accuses them of poisoning her which results in them being charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Edith speaks out about her "trama" on the local news. saying that her children poisoned her with antifreeze and if the doctors didn't test her blood then she wouldn't be alive. In her children's deposition, Jared Duvall talks his truth to the ADA. The questions turn to his love life and Edith jokes about Jared's non-existing love life. This causes Jared to lash out at his mother and tells her that he wishes she was dead. At her own deposition, Laurel Castillo and Annalise Keating from the Middleton Criminal Law Clinic who have been defending her children question her. When Annalise and Laurel managed to get to the bottom of her lies, the ADA advises Edith to get her lawyer before answering any more of their questions. She insists that they should continue and she eventually cracks and admits that she poisoned herself as her children take her for granted and wanted to show them that they shouldn't. The prosecution drops the charges against the siblings. ("Call It Mother's Intuition")
