Jorge Castillo v. Laurel Castillo was a case that came about in the second half of season 4 as a result of Jorge faking Laurel's medical records to grant him emergency custody of Christopher Castillo, who was born two months premature in the Easton Hotel inside an elevator. Jorge knew the Keating 4 had stolen Antares files from Caplan & Gold and was holding Laurel's baby hostage until the stolen files were returned to him.
Case[]
Sandrine Castillo was the first witness to take the stand during the custody hearing. She testified that she was a bad mother to Laurel and it was Laurel who took care of her. The prosecution forwent crossing this witness. The next witness was Isaac Roa, who had completed a psychiatric evaluation with Laurel, coming to the conclusion that she is fit to be a mother and allowing the grandfather to have custody was unfounded. He took the stand and testified to just that, but the prosecution was able to discredit his testimony by reopening the investigation into the death of Stella Roa, with new evidence making Isaac a suspect. The judge ruled that Jorge would retain custody of Christopher as Laurel's psychiatric evaluation was discredited.
Towards the end of the season, Bonnie paid off a prison guard to access the security footage to discover who took the hard drive from Laurel's bag before it got logged as evidence. She discovered it was Denver, and left a voicemail to Annalise telling her that. Jorge had a wire tap on Bonnie's phone and heard the voicemail and as a result had Denver's car tampered with causing him to fatally crash when leaving the office.
Nate was looking through case storage lockers and recognised a case closed over 10 years prior that had some recent activity. He accessed the locker and found the files on the Keating 5, Annalise, Frank and Bonnie as well as Dominick's phone and the hard drive. Denver was using the storage locker to hide things. Nate returned the drive to Annalise. The original plan was to hand the drive off to Simon Drake, but the plan changed when Annalise realised the process would take too long and arranged a meeting with Jorge. She convinced him to sign a waiver that cancelled his testimony against Laurel to sway the judge and grant her custody of Christopher in exchange for the drive.
